The core of the FiiO BTR5 2021 has been renewed with two ESS SABRE ES9219C DAC chips with better decoding performance than the previous generation, a higher signal-to-noise ratio, and lower power consumption. To further solidify the audio architecture the BTR5 2021 has utilised an XMOS XUF208 control chip. With this chip, the BTR5 2021 is capable of asynchronous audio decoding and can decode up to 384kHz sampling rate and native DSD in USB2.0 and Asynchronous USB DAC supports 384kHz sampling rate and DSD256 natively.

The biggest perk of integrating and updating the Qualcomm CSRS8675 into the FiiO BTR5 2021 is low-power consumption and improved audio capabilities. This chip allows BTR5 2021 to support 24-bit and 120Mhz DSP audio processing for efficient Bluetooth decoding. You can use the BTR5 2021 for watching videos, playing games or listening to music and be assured of outstanding sound quality.

FiiO BTR5 2021 comes embedded with a precision FPGA clock and this is responsible for the transmission and reception of Bluetooth and USB digital audio signals as well as clock management. In the BTR5 2021, after the Bluetooth signal is processed through the FPGA, jitter is reduced and signal stability is improved, completely solving the problem of different clock rates between the different components. With the addition of a dedicated FPGA, the 45.1584/49.152MHz dual crystal oscillators can more accurately reproduce audio signals under various sampling rates during Bluetooth and USB decoding.

To offer greater power and detailed resolution, the FiiO BTR5 2021 features both 2.5mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended outputs. In its balanced audio architecture, each channel is driven separately with its own DAC and amplifier, allowing the BTR5 2021 to bring a purer sound with unmatched finesse and balance. This truly balanced audio architecture extends pure balanced sound. Kindly note that when 3.5mm and 2.5mm outputs are inserted simultaneously only the 3.5mm port will provide sound to ensure that the BTR5 functions normally.

The crisp and clear 0.49 inch 64×32 resolution OLED screen is among the best features of the FiiO BTR5 2021. It is one screen that displays everything, including info about pairing, connection, call status, power status, encoding format and volume. It also allows you to view and modify the charging status, car mode, filters and EQ. Similar to some of the latest smartphones, the FiiO BTR5 2021 sports a durable aluminium body with curved glass and an oleophobic layer on the top which gives it a smooth and fingerprint-resistant body.

Fully charge the built-in 550mAh battery of your FiiO BTR5 2021 in just 1.5 hours. Once it’s charged completely you can use it for as long as 9 hours. With built-in dual omnidirectional high-sensitivity microphones, you can use a headset like the CTIA, which comes with an external microphone. When using either set of microphones, you can benefit from CVC 8.0 noise cancellation technology, which intelligently adjusts microphone gain and effectively suppresses background noise for crystal clear calls.

When you connect the BTR5 2021 to your headphones or phone, It remembers your preferred volume level, saving you effort and time. In iOS devices, you can even view the battery percentage right from the widget. Smart enough to detect the kind of headphone you are using, the FiiO BTR5 2021 adjusts its output once you insert the headphone. The moment you remove the headphone, the BTR5 is smart enough to pause the music and to go into low power consumption mode saving battery life. When a USB connection is detected with the BTR5 2021, it will automatically prompt you to turn on “USB Audio Adapter” mode, which turns off charging to the BTR5 2021 and allows you to use it as an audio dongle. You can connect to compatible devices using NFC one-touch connectivity. If you are using the BTR5 in the car mode, the BTR5 turns on and off depending on the car.

Pairing, play, pause, accept calls, hang up calls and open voice assistant using the dedicated buttons on the FiiO BTR5 2021. Once you’ve disconnected your paired devices via Bluetooth, you can press the Bluetooth reconnect button to reconnect with the device again. Just double-tap the dedicated button to activate your voice assistant. You can change how your BTR5 2021 sounds using the FiiO Music App and remotely control channel balance, select from 4 DAC lowpass filters or adjust the sound on a 10 band equaliser. Kindly note that the equaliser functionality does not work in the LDAC. In the box, you get a 360° of all-around protection case along with a detachable back clip and a USB Type-C to Type-C cable.

NFC is a near field communication technology. The NFC sensing area of the mobile phone and the BTR5 2021 must be closer enough to each other to be paired. In addition, a mobile phone wearing a phone case also has low NFC sensitivity, so it is suggested to remove the case and try again.
: Currently, any Bluetooth device will have a delay. But there is no obvious influence when listening to music. The time of delay is different for different Bluetooth codecs. The BTR5 2021 supports aptX LL (less than 40ms delay). For other Bluetooth codecs, the delay is about 100ms.
: Yes. When it’s connected successfully yet without playback and operation, it will enter standby mode (low power consumption). When it’s not connected, it will turn off automatically after 2 minutes if there is no operation. (the auto-timer can be set on the App). The battery life is about 300 hours under standby mode.
: The BTR5 2021’s middle frame is made of aluminum alloy, with a 6H hardness 2.5D tempered glass on both the front and back panel (scratch resistance is the same as that of iPhone’s), which is not easy to scratch in use. But please don’t put it together with sharp metal objects like keys. Besides, the back clip is made of ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene).

: No. Ever since the HWA was launched, its sound quality has been recognized by many users in China. The FiiO BTR3, as the earliest product on the market that perfectly supports HWA, was very popular. However, it has encountered some problems that we could not solve temporarily. For example:
1. HWA, as the latest technology, has more poor connection reliability than LDAC and aptX.
2. There were few devices that support HWA, especially consumers in foreign countries. Most of them have no idea about the HWA.
3. The internal ROM capacity of the CSR8675 is limited, especially after an upgrade to Bluetooth 5.0. The BLE function (App control) will take up more space. While coupled with the HWA algorithm, it will have more limited ROM capacity, and will restrict us to make improvements and expansion for the product functions. This is the main reason.
4. As the owner of HWA, Huawei also stated that HWA will face a large upgrade, and the upgraded HWA will no longer be compatible with the previous version. So Huawei themselves also canceled HWA support on their latest system.
: Please refer to the Bluetooth instruction card inside the package. The BTR5 2021 supports high-rate and high-quality signal transmission, but the transmission distance will be shorter when transmitting high-quality signals.
