DESCRIPTION

The Matrix Audio element P is one device that’s meant to fulfil all your audio needs. It can work as a source device, DAC as well as a speaker amplifier. It’s designed especially for passive speaker amplifiers. All you need to do is configure a NAS storage device or connect it to a USB drive to play music up to 768kHz PCM and 22.4MHz DSD.

The XMOS XU216 USB Interface feeds the audio signal to the ESS ES9028PRO DAC and Crystek CCHD-950 ultra-low phase noise femtosecond clock for high-res jitter-free sound. To keep the audio quality from degrading, a MUSES72320 resistor for the analogue volume control is used. The element P supports MQA technology to decode Master Quality Authenticated files and playback the sound of the original master recording.

Stream audio wirelessly from any device including your smartphone with the element P. With the help of the MA player, enjoy music using DLNA or AirPlay. It’s also Roon ready. What’s more? You can control the music wherever you are with the MA Remote app (available for iPhone, iPad and Android phones). It is integrated with Tidal and Qobuz.

The element P is the first Streamer from Matrix Audio that features a full-featured audio source. The Linux-based audio system uses a Freescale i.MX6 series dual-core ARM processor. The core power amplifier is the Danish ICEpower 250ASX2 class-D amplifier module that offers an output of 230 Watts per channel @ 4Ω. To prevent the superimposed noise in the module’s power supply from entering the pre-amp section, a front-end linear power supply is used. This consists of a multi-channel linear LDO with Nichicon audio-grade capacitors and a customised Noratel toroidal transformer.

The element P features a double-shell structure. The outer shell is made of 4mm CNC anodized aluminium while the inner shell is fitted with stamp galvanized steel with multi-strip reinforcing ribs. Both metals are effective in removing the fixed resonant frequency of each shell. This reduces the negative impact that case resonance has on audio quality. It also ensures excellent durability. The simple visual lines on the case are meant to add to its sleek look.

This changes now as Spotify announced in early 2021 that they will provide lossless audio streaming in the coming future. Following this announcement, Matrix announced their first Spotify Connect enabled product and announced the new firmware for Matrix element devices are available for download. Users can enjoy Spotify music through Matrix element devices now. The implementation of Spotify to the Matrix device is different from the TIDAL and Qobuz integration. Customers no longer need to log in to their Spotify account in the app by Matrix, rather open the Spotify app, find Matrix products in the “Device Picker” of Spotify, and select the device, allowing music to be played on your Matrix’s audio device.

Install Spotify on your phone, tablet or computer, log in to your Spotify account, find the music, in the Playing interface, tap the icon to open Device Picker, select the Matrix device you would like to play the music. Please note, when you enter the Device Picker interface on an iPhone or iPad for the first time, your app will ask for permission to find and connect to devices on your network. Please allow it. After the music is played on your element device, the screen of the device will display as below. With the latest version of the MA Remote app, you would see the track in the Playing interface, you can play/pause, next/previous, enable/disable repeat and shuffle through the MA Remote app.
