The wait for the all-new M11 Plus ESS is over. FiiO presents the upgraded FiiO M11 Plus ESS with ESS Sabre DAC chipset. The latest M11 Plus ESS is equipped with two high-performance ES9068AS decoding chips that deliver outstanding performance improvement over its predecessor. FiiO has brought several updates with the M11 Plus ESS variant, including a low-pass filter and dual THX AAA72 amp chips to match the ESS Sabre DAC chipset. The chipset is tuned to achieve high SNR ratings ensuring quality sound performance with cleaner background response. M11 Plus ESS has improved output power ratings, providing up to 588mW of clean output at 32Ω of load. FiiO M11 Plus ESS now has MQA rendering capabilities, providing you with full MQA support even in USB DAC mode. The battery life of the new M11 Plus ESS is also improved to give 11.5 hours of playtime so you can enjoy your music without interruptions.

FiiO has upgraded the DAC chipset of the M11 Plus ESS digital audio player with two high-performance ES9068AS audio decoding chips. This new chipset is tuned and adjusted for achieving improved performance, even better than the AKM counterpart with better Signal to Noise Ratio and Distortion ratings. The careful tuning minimises distortion to 0.0001% for a highly accurate audio representation. M11 Plus ESS can natively decode DSD512 and PCM 768kHz files effortlessly. To support the DAC chipset FiiO has featured dual THX AAA-78 headphone amplifier modules for the M11 Plus ESS. These amp modules have a feed-forward error correction technology that lets you experience sound with detail with better output power and present a soundstage as the artists intended.

FiiO utilises the legendary and high performing Qualcomm Octa-Core Snapdragon 660 processor, coupled with high-speed 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, enabling high demand multithreaded computations (audio or otherwise) to be performed in record time. The Snapdragon 660 processor features an architecture capable of providing a smartphone-like smooth experience, enabling you to watch videos and play games. This processor also ensures ultra-low power consumption and features an Adreno 512 GPU with a 14NM process to enhance the performance even further. With the FiiO M11 Plus ESS, you get to experience a super smooth user interface. All thanks to the almighty Qualcomm Octa-Core Snapdragon 660 processor. To add to this you get Android 10 OS as the base system, allowing you to download third-party apps and supporting gestures and dark mode.

FiiO has carefully designed the M11 Plus ESS to deliver outstanding performance. To enable this, the M11 Plus ESS adopts an upgraded internal layout and a modular circuit design where each module of the circuit has its shielding cover to separate it from other modules. This design offers less electrical interference while keeping the digital and analogue portions isolated, ensuring the lowest electrical noise and delivering clean sound. M11 Plus ESS has also been embedded with an enhanced power supply, where the front low pass filter, signal amp and amp expansion circuits have their independent power supply. This helps achieve better dynamics and offers excellent thermal management on the device. Independent shielding has also been utilised with thermal silica gel, graphene and nickel silver heat sink to absorb and dissipate heat as needed.

FiiO has equipped the M11 Plus ESS with their Digital Audio Purification System (DAPS), featuring a 4th generation FGPA and NDK femtosecond crystal oscillator. This system enables the audio data to pass through the FPGA with phase-locked loop technology, which works in conjunction with two custom Japanese NDK femtosecond crystal oscillators to provide a high-precision and low jitter unified clock source for the entire audio architecture. This system essentially achieves a jitter-free clean sound. Fused with this is the upgraded Carbon fibre volume panel which features a unique button + touch panel design. This new generation volume panel takes less space and offers precise volume adjustments with Five methods. You can slide on the panel, press the buttons, use the touch screen, FiiO Link and via Bluetooth remote control to change the volume.

The FiiO M11 Plus ESS offer Bluetooth 5.0 two way connectivity. Two-way Bluetooth connectivity allows you to stream your music from a smartphone or a tablet effortlessly with support for high-quality transmission codecs like aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, AAC and SBC, for a resolution equal or superior to CD quality in wireless mode. The M11 Plus ESS also offers support for DLNA and Airplay streaming. The processing power of the M11 Plus ESS allows for 8x decoding of MQA data and even MQA rendering in USB mode, reproducing the master quality from source files! With Bluetooth 5.0 and MQA decoding, you can connect to the M11 Plus ESS wirelessly and not lose any audio signal quality.

FiiO has designed the M11 Plus ESS to suit most users by offering multiple output ports, three gain level settings and five distinct operational modes. FiiO M11 Plus ESS houses three headphone output ports, 2.5mm, 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended ports to connect various headphones. The M11 Plus ESS offers balanced line-out functionality with the 4.4mm output port to connect the M11 Plus ESS with amplifiers. To provide ample power, FiiO has incorporated 3 gain-level settings – low, medium and high, with each gain level offering 120 steps of control. : 1.【Force to reboot】 Please hold the power button for around 10 seconds until the “FiiO” logo shows up.
2.【Extract a LOG file】For special software issues, please extract a LOG file under the root directory, unzip and copy it to the homepage. And then send it to us for analysis. The name of the folder: fiio_log
3.【Fail to be charged or turned on】 a. Hold the power button for about 10 seconds when it is charging b.Try other power adapters and charging cables. c.The battery of your device may be overused, so it needs to be refreshed through low-current power. It is suggested to charge it through the computer for more than 2 hours, and then unplug the charging cable to see whether it can be turned on. d. If the problem still exists, please try to leave the device aside for 2 to 3 days, and then charge it again. Because sometimes its system may be stuck, it would return to normal when the device runs out of power.
: For Windows computers, it is driver-free. After connecting the M11 Plus ESS to the computer by the included USB cable, the driver will be automatically installed. Then the FiiO M11Plus disk can be directly seen on the computer.
Mac computers need a driver.
1.After connecting the M11 Plus ESS to the Mac computer, click the “NO NAME” folder emerging on the desktop->double click Mac->Mac/MAC OS MTP Client->Android File Transfer.dmg. Drag the “Android File Transfer.dmg” to the desktop of the computer.
2. Drag the “Android File Transfer” file to the “Applications” folder and wait for the completion of the copy.
3. Enter “Applications”, and double click the “Android File Transfer”. Then you can manage the files stored in the internal storage of the M11 Plus ESS or the Micro SD card.
: The M11 Plus ESS supports online upgrade and local upgrade.
1.Online upgrade If a new firmware is available and can be detected (with the M11 Plus ESS connected to an available internet), an upgrade notification will show up in the notification center. Tap on it to enter the update menu for the online upgrade. If there’s no upgrade notification showing up, you can go to the “Technical Support->Firmware Upgrade” menu, and tap the “Check for updates” icon to check manually.
2.Local upgrade Also, the M11 Plus ESS can be upgraded locally by a firmware package. Download the firmware package file from FiiO website, and copy it to the internal storage of the M11 Plus ESS or an SD card. Go to the “Technical Support->Firmware Upgrade->Local Upgrade” menu, and find the firmware package file to start the upgrade.
: There are two ways to install applications that are similar to mobile phones’.
1.After connecting the device to a valid WiFi, go to FiiO market, Google Play or other app markets to download and install the app directly.
2.Local installation: copy the APK file to the M11 Plus ESS. Go to the file management menu to find the file and install it.
: The M11 Plus ESS has 5 independent working modes: Android mode, Pure Music mode, Bluetooth Receiving mode, USB DAC mode and AirPlay mode. It is defaulted to be the Android mode, which can be switched to other working modes in the drop-down menu.
If the player is in other modes but not the Android mode, you can switch it to other modes through the selection on the display, or tap Settings->Exit to go back to Android mode.
: Long or short pressing the volume+/- button can adjust the volume, or adjust it by touching the volume touch panel.
: For Mac computers, it is driver-free.
For Windows computers, please make the settings as the followed steps.
1.Install the FiiO DAC driver in the computer first.
2.Switch the working mode of the M11 Plus ESS to USB DAC mode on the drop-down menu or go to Settings->Mode choose menu to enter the USB DAC mode.
3. Connect the M11 Plus ESS to the computer by the USB port. Select the M11 Plus ESS as the audio input both in the computer and the music app, so it can work.
: 1. Go to the drop-down or Settings menu of the M11 Plus ESS, and choose the working mode as Bluetooth receiving mode.
2. Go to the Bluetooth transmitting list of the mobile phone, and tap the M11 Plus ESS to complete the connection.
: 1. Go to the Settings->Bluetooth menu to turn on the Bluetooth function.
2.Make the Bluetooth receiving device, such as Bluetooth earphones, enter the pairing state. (Please refer to the user manual of the Bluetooth receiving device about how to enter pairing state.)
3.Go to the Bluetooth device list of the M11 Plus ESS->Pair new device to complete the connection.
: The FiiO M11 Plus ESS comes with Bluetooth version 5.0
: The M11 Plus ESS supports LDAC, aptX-HD, aptX, AAC and SBC which can be switched on Settings->Audio->Wireless playback quality menu. Note that it needs to be disconnected and reconnected to enable the new codec after changing it.
: The M11 Plus ESS supports USB audio. The setting steps are as follows.
1. Enable “USB output” in FiiO Music app of the M11 Plus.
2.Use an OTG cable to connect the M11 Plus ESS and the external decoder.
3.Open FiiO Music app or other music applications to use the M11 Plus ESS as a USB digital output device.
: 【Principle】After turning on the In-vehicle mode, you can connect the M11 Plus ESS to the on-board USB port, and the M11 Plus ESS will power on automatically and switch to the In-vehicle mode screen when the vehicle engine starts, and power off automatically when the vehicle engine stops.
【How to set】Go to Settings->Global->In-vehicle mode, or the drop-down menu to turn on the in-vehicle mode.
: QC2.0, QC3.0 and MTK PE quick charging protocols are supported. If the power adapter does not support the above protocols, it will not trigger the quick charging function. Therefore, it is not suggested to use it.
For non-quick charging adapters, the 5V 1A/2A ones are recommended.
: The AirPlay function will only be available when connecting the M11 Plus ESS to iOS devices but not Android devices. There are mainly 3 steps.
1. Make sure the M11 Plus ESS and your iOS devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
2.Switch the M11 Plus ESS to the AirPlay mode.
3.On the drop-down menu of the iOS device, choose the M11 Plus ESS as the playing device. So the M11 Plus ESS can receive audio signals from the iOS device.
: The DLNA function means the M11 Plus ESS can read and receive music files stored on the device (name it Device A) which supports DLNA function through WiFi.
1. Make sure the M11 Plus ESS and Device A are connected to the same WiFi network.
2.On the FiiO Music app of the M11 Plus ESS, tap DLNA on the main menu and search for Device A to play music of it.
: Go to the Settings->Global->Volume touch panel setting menu to turn on the Auto Lock Without Operation function.
Notes:
1. If the “Auto lock without operation” is turned on, the volume touch panel needs to be tapped twice each time to enable it before using.
2. If the volume touch panel is locked, the volume can still be adjusted by long or short pressing the volume +/- button without unlocking it.
: 1.Go to Settings->About phone, and continuously tap the “Build number” 7 times to activate the Developer mode.
2.Go back to Settings->System->Developer options menu to turn off the”Disable absolute volume”.
3.Disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth.
