This is what SYS stands for. The Schiit SYS, simply put, is a 2-way switch and potentiometer. This preamp contains neither the electronics nor the power you find in other Schiit products. But, thanks to this, you get absolutely no distortion.

Pair your DAC with a powered monitor or phono preamp and crank up the volume with the SYS. Need to use two sources with a Schiit amplifier? No worries. This preamp can switch between devices with ease. It can connect to just about any line-level source including PCs, iPods, Macs, DVD Players, tuners, etc.

: The downside to a passive preamp is exactly that—it’s passive. That means there are no electronics in it. Which means it can’t drive really long cable runs. If you’re expecting to run 35′ RCA cables to your power amp, Sys isn’t going to be the best option. If you’re running 6′ cables to desktop speakers, that’s not a problem. We’d be careful with anything longer than 15′ on Sys, depending on the cable type.
